Don Quixote, Amaryllis and Injoy

In the winter of 1987, my very first horse, an Appaloosa gelding that I had named Don, crossed the Rainbow Bridge, he was 26 at the time. I had owned him since 1972 and he had seen me through everything asked of him.  He was a very patient and loving teacher. I was lost and horseless at the time but I had fulfilled my promise of caring for him and keeping him with me always. He taught me so much and I was so fortunate to have had him as my equine mentor though my teen years.  His neck was always there for the hugging and he listened so patiently about the relationships of a teen, both good and bad.  He saw me through anything that I asked of him, Western Pleasure, Competitive trail riding, horse trials and dressage.  It was important to me to fulfill my promise to him since he was as loyal to me.

Don Quixote - The keeper of my " Impossible Dreams"

Amaryllis  "aka" Amelia -

In 1989, I purchased the horse of my dreams. It was an Oldenburg mare that was lovingly named Amelia by the staff of the farm that she was boarded at.  She was 17 months at the time and was simply out to pasture due to her owners decision to liquidate all of their stock.   After walking out to the pasture where she lived and played with her mother and sister, we came back home I was overjoyed at the purchase and she was the horse that comes along once in a life time.  Through the years she grew and matured into such a gracious lady.

Amelia now resides with her new owner, Alexis.  They are both happy with each other and will hopefully accomplish wonderful things in the future.  They have gotten a good start.  They competed this fall at the Lendon Gray Youth Dressage Festival in New York.  It was a wonderful weekend surrounded by so many great dressage icons, such as Lendon Gray, Hilda Gurney, and George Williams. Alexis received First in Dressage Equitation for her age group in the country.  Great Job Alexis.  Just goes to prove how fitted they are for each other.

Injoy

Injoy is Amelia' s 1996 foal.  I bred Amelia when I was starting to have trouble with my kidneys and was not riding as much as I could.  She is a wonderful mare and is by the Oldenburg stallion Ideal*.  Ideal is soon to be a Breyer Horse model, he is one of the top producing Oldenburg stallions in the Untied States.  She was named Injoy because she was such a Joy for me.  I finally realized that I should not have a young horse to break and ride since I was not fit enough to do so, that is why I decided to sell her.

These last two pictures were taken when Joy was a coming two year old.  She loves showing off that lovely neck.
