David's Page

This page is devoted to our son.  He has truly been a blessing in our lives and even though we are his parents, he has been our teacher in the lessons of growing, exploring, experiencing and living life. I thank our Lord for the gift that he has bestowed upon us in David.  He was delivered pre-maturely May of 1988 at 30 weeks due to my diabetes and to save both of our lives.  He weighed  2 lbs 14 oz and was only 14 inches long at birth.   He stayed in the hospital for about 2 months and was still under 5 lbs when he was allowed to leave.  Being his parents is a gift of fulfillment in our lives, he has grown taller than me now and is maturing into such a wonderful man.  I am in awe of him so often at his self carriage and maturity, I stand afar sometimes and wonder what I have done to deserve such a wonderful son.

His love of life and everything in it is amazing.  His passion is NASCAR.  As you can tell from the pictures, he loves to race. He is artistical as well as articulate. He and his Dad have acquired Turtles.  Box turtles, water turtles and one very dinosaur looking snapping turtle that they care for. He has been our buddy going with us to the horse shows and dog shows and now, we go with him to the Go-kart races.  It has been such a wonderful addition to our lives.  We love the people and their genuine character, much different than that of the horse enthusiasts.  David has spent some time volunteering at the Virginia Marine Science Museum or now known as the Virginia Aquarium and in two summers totaled more than 100 hours of volunteer work.

David at the King George Speedway.  In 2004, David was a part of a national contest called the Phantom University Challenge.  This challenge is sponsored by one of the Kart manufacturers.  The way that they determine the winners is to challenge them to achieve excellence in their school grades by taking their GPA's by point standards and multiply that by 2 and then adding that to their year end finish in a State/ Divisional  or National series.  We chose to compete in a State/ Divisional Series on the pavement. David finished with a State/Divisional Third and then was 17 Internationally in the Phantom University Challenge out of 125 participants. Below are pictures of King George Speedway.
